AbstractSeveral educators have called for the discussion of socio-scientific issues in classroom because of its potential to develop students’ argumentation skills. This study explores the nature of the arguments used by undergraduate chemistry students in decision making on a socio-scientific issue. The whole activity was based on case studies that use realistic narratives and involve an authentic portrayal of a person in a complex situation constructed for particular pedagogical purposes.
