AbstractIn India, the current CO2 emission level is 2,069 Mt with many large point sources emitting more than 10 Mt per year of CO2. Also, there are large numbers of coal-fired power plants emitting huge quantum of CO2. The potential sites for storage of captured CO2 from these stations are however limited by the geological and geographical features of the country. In Eastern India, such possible sites are few. On the other hand there already exist thermal power plants and there are 4 UMPP (Ultra Mega Power Plants) in the pipeline.
