Influence of Three Gorges Project on Water quality of Poyang Lake

AbstractIn this article, Based on the field observed water quality data from 1999 to 2009, before and after operation of TGP, the water quality of Poyang Lake were discussed and compared, and the influence of TPG on the Poyang Lake water quality was investigated and analyzed. Water quality of Poyang Lake has already undergone great changes after 2003, and it's showing a tendency to deterioration. From Oct. to next Mar., the TPG need to decrease discharge for power generation, this cause the Hukou water level precipitous fall, a great deal of lake water discharges to the Changjiang River, self-purification capability of Poyang Lake is much weakened.
