AbstractThis paper investigates the effect of socio-economic factors that might influence on recycling practices in Malaysia. We conducted interview surveys to 600 households in the newly emerging conurbation of Iskandar Malaysia Region. The results revealed that socio-economic variables have a positive relationship in recycling activities. The outcomes indicate that elderly people displayed a pro-environmental behaviour. The younger generation is less inclined to recycle. The findings enable the government to generate suitable options that suit the various characteristics of households.
