ABSTRACTOn a state-of-the-art perspective, the evaluation of airways resistance is admitted as an important routine lung function parameter. Its definition, most widespread methods of clinical assay, and pros and cons are discussed, reinforcing its independence of collaboration and antiphysiologic manovers. However, its possible role on the study of peripheral airways, through forced expiration, is also exemplified. The method of impulse oscillometry is referred as a future breakthrough, since it brings another standpoint for this parameter, bringing up a regional evaluation of airways resistance
