AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the effect of inquiry based learning method on students’ motivation. Nonequivalent Control Group Design was employed as the research method and the population of this study was comprised of first-grade students attending the Faculty of Education at Hacettepe University. The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) which was developed by Pintrich, Smith, Garcia and McKeachie (1991) and adapted into Turkish by Büyüköztürk, Akgün, Özkahveci and Demirel (2004) was applied to determine students’ motivation.
