AbstractThe effect of oestrogen on the synthesis of ribosomal proteins in the uterus of the immature rat has been investigated. Stimulated synthesis peaks, at 6–7-times control levels, 12 h after a single administration of the hormone. The stimulated synthesis and incorporation of newly made proteins into ribosomal particles exhibit very similar kinetics. The incorporation of newly made rRNA into ribosomes mirrors that of ribosomal protein but lags several hours behind the peak of oestrogen-stimulated rRNA synthesis.Cell-free protein sysnthesisImmunoassa
