Exploring Behavior on the Herbal Galactagogue Usage among Malay Lactating Mothers in Malaysia

AbstractBreastfeeding provides the physiological and health benefits for both mother and child. However, problems such as insufficient milk ejection may affect the mothers’ breastfeeding process and may urge the mothers to consider on using galactagogue. We collected and analyzed questionnaire consists demographic data and usage patterns of herbal galactagogue during lactating. From findings, most mothers consumed herbal galactagogue due to insufficient milk ejection. A larger scale survey of herbal galactagogues used would be beneficial in future to the state of knowledge and clinical study on the most popular herbs
