Nontraumatic lower extremity amputations in the Medicare end-stage renal disease population.BackgroundNontraumatic lower limb amputation is a serious complication of both diabetic neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease. Many people with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) suffer from advanced progression of these diseases.
