AbstractThis paper aims to determine the primary factors which support the successful application of the D&B method. It was found that the client attributes for the success of the D&B projects in public universities are: developing a clear understanding of project scope, a clear brief thorough assessment of the contractor's proposal, a clear understanding of project costs, fulfilling the end-user requirements, quality finish of the project, completion within the time frame as well as the budget allocated. It is recommended that further strategies implemented which include planning, monitoring, coordinating, controlling, communication and decision-making in order to achieve project success
