AbstractThis paper presents a case study research based on the experience of implementing a blended learning approach to a university lecture course for students of FLT methodology at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Area Studies at Moscow State University. Experimenting with blended learning on a local scale enabled the developers of the course to get an idea of their students’ subjective response to the challenges of new arrangements of their study. This in its turn gave the author food for thought and reflection on a number of vitally important conditions enabling a course in a blended format to contribute to developing students’ professional and informational competences
