AbstractStructures which are exposed to earthquake or detrimental environments may require rehabilitation in their service life. One of the common ways for strengthening the reinforced concrete sections is using the FRP sheets. These materials have a considerable effect on the improvement of shear capacity and the aim of this article is focused on the investigation of the influence of CFRP sheets used in the external sides of the beams. The nonlinear finite element method is used to modelling the concrete beams. The results show that using of CFRP sheets leads to improving considerably the ultimate load capacity of the beam.
