AbstractIn developing and developed countries alike, microenterprises have the potential to alleviate poverty by allowing the motivated poor to go into business for themselves. Many, however, may not have the knowledge or skills needed to identify the opportunities available and create a viable business plan. This paper looks at defining and employing microfranchise templates to facilitate the process of starting and running franchise instances. These templates will include workflows that guide the entrepreneur and employees via mobile phones, will support the formation of collaborative federations to minimize waste and maximize profits, and will provide adaptive parameters that can be adjusted over time based on past results
