AbstractThis work presents a review of the research carried out for TiO2-SnO2 mixed oxide system for gas sensing. Comparison of performance between composites and solid solutions is discussed. Microcrystalline and nanocrystalline solid solution prepared by sol-gel are contrasted with nanocomposites and thin films. Morphological, structural, electrical and optical properties of the prepared materials are given. The most important factors affecting gas sensing behavior are elucidated
