Reliability and validity of a Farsi version of the brief illness perception questionnaire

AbstractThe Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (Brief IPQ) provides a rapid assessment of illness perception. This study investigated reliability and validity of a Farsi version of the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (Brief IPQ). 300 patients with type I diabetes (128 males and 172 females) from Iranian Diabetes Society were asked to complete the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (Brief IPQ), and Psychological Well-being subscale of Mental Health Inventory (MHI). Also, HbA1c was obtained from laboratory examination. The results revealed good internal consistency, construct validity, and concurrent validity with other measures.
