AbstractBackground: Endovascular brachytherapy (EBT) has been shown to prevent restenosis after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTA) in both animal and clinical studies. However, as yet, the effect of EBT on peripheral arteries is unknown. Objective: This intravascular ultrasound scan (IVUS) study evaluates the effect of EBT on the extent of plaque growth and vascular remodeling after PTA of the femoropopliteal artery. Methods: Twenty-four patients with obstructive disease of the femoropopliteal artery underwent standard PTA.
