AbstractAs urea is an index material of the hemodialysis efficiency in hemodialysis therapy, we propose a compact and accurate urea sensor based on chemiluminescence (CL) emitted by the reaction of urea with a hypobromite solution. We designed a new micro-reactor comprised of seven micro-cells based on the investigation of the CL reaction process and fluid dynamical considerations. The sensor has (1) high accuracy of 4%, (2) short response time of 1s, (3) linear characteristics for urea concentration between 1 to 16mM, (4) no interference by uric acid, creatinine, ammonia, and (5) long-life
