ObjectiveIt has been postulated recently that changes in cytoskeletal and sarcolemmal proteins initiate a final common pathway for contractile dysfunction in dilated cardiomyopathy. In ischemic cardiomyopathy, hepatocyte growth factor plays an important role in reorganizing the impaired cytoskeletal proteins in several cell types.
