AbstractA system of equations which describe the dynamics of a thin two-dimensional free film is analyzed in the vicinity of rupture. These equations contain the effects of surface tension and van der Waals forces. A similarity solution is sought, and a dominant balance argument is proposed and supported with numerical calculations
