AbstractBackground/AimThe objective of the study was to evaluate the cardioprotective activity of ellagic acid in doxorubicin induced cardiotoxicity.MethodsMale wistar rats (180–220 g) were divided in to four groups: vehicle control, doxorubicin control, ellagic acid (100 mg/kg) and ellagic acid (200 mg/kg). Doxorubicin was administered to all the groups except vehicle control at a dose of 3.75 mg/kg at week 2,3,4,5 to make a cumulative dose of 3.75 mg/kg. Ellagic acid was administered to the respective group of animals at a dose of 100 mg/kg 200 mg/kg, respectively once daily orally for 6 weeks.
