AbstractEpoxide adhesives form interphases in adhesive joints due to adhesive-surface interaction between adhesive and substrate. The properties of these interphases play an important role concerning the performance and durability of structural adhesive joints under service conditions. In this paper a new approach will be presented to conduct micromechanical shear stress-strain analysis under ambient conditions using micro shear specimen in combination with high resolution digital microscopy
