AbstractThe textbook design in accordance with the general didactic principles, especially with those which have become established in the education curriculum and didactic methodology as well as in the musical activities designing provide pupils’ essential abilities and attitudes in developing their personality. How are all these reflected in the contents of the Romanian music education textbooks? This the question we aim to answer in this study. The analysis emphasizes, on the one hand, the requirements set in terms of the didactic principles which direct the whole educational system, and, on the other hand, it identifies the poor aspects of it
