AbstractThe deformation behaviour of two ternary magnesium alloys, AX91 and AJ62 were investigated in compression tests. The samples were deformed at temperatures between 20 and 300°C at an initial strain rate of the order of 10-5 s-1. The deformation stresses decrease with increasing temperature. Stress relaxation experiments were performed in order to reveal features of the thermally activated dislocation motion. Internal stress and strain rate sensitivity parameter were estimated. A decrease in the internal stress observed at elevated temperatures indicates the presence of recovery process (-es).
