AbstractHuman plasma LDL exhibits a diffuse fluorescence (excitation 360 nm) in the 400–600 nm range. Application of three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy shows the presence of 7 fluorophores in the lipid and 6 fluorophores in the protein domain. The 430 nm fluorescence in freshly prepared LDL and its apo-B is most likely indicative for remnants of in vivo lipid peroxidation
