AbstractAn environmentally benign multicomponent strategy for the synthesis of fused pyrazole derivatives has been developed. The present strategy provides a rapid access to construct a diversity-oriented library of fused pyrazoles by using three simple and readily available substrates viz. aromatic aldehyde, tetronic acid and aryl hydrazine as amine source. Further, the employment of molecular iodine, phase transfer catalyst and water altogether served as a “green attribute” to the present protocol
