While the number of patients with anterior poliomyelitis has decreased dramatically, the number coming for physiotherapy with chronic nervous diseases, such as hemiplegia and disseminated sclerosis, has increased. If physiotherapy is to make a worthwhile contribution to the rehabilitation of these patients it is essential that treatment should be carefully planned
