AbstractIn Infant Cry Analysis, the cry units are the most important parts of the cry wave to be analyzed. The cry units aresegments of cry in the recorded samples the separation of these segments from the rest of the recording is known as cry units detection. Currently, the detection of cry units is done by expert doctors, who perform the detection based on their visual and auditory perception, which is done by inspecting spectrograms and listening the recorded samples. Here, a method based on the energy of the signal measure is presented, which allows to automatically detect, in an effective way the cry units from a recording, even under noise conditions. In this paper we describe the implemented method as well as some encouraging results
