AbstractObjective: In idiopathic chondrocalcinosis and in osteoarthritis (OA), increased extracellular PPi (ecPPi) promotes calcification. In chromosome 5p-associated familial chondrocalcinotic degenerative arthropathy, certain mutations in the membrane protein ANK may chronically raise ecPPi via enhanced PPi channeling.
