AbstractIn an earlier paper, Yang solved a problem set by R. Bellman. Recently Neudecker (J. Math. Anal. Appl.166 (1992), 302-303) proved Yang′s result using a different method. In this note, we give a new proof of Yang′s result and generalize it to a generalized positive semidefinite matrix
