AbstractThis paper deals with nonlinear observers for a microbial growth rate model in continuous fermentation processes. The nonlinear model is steered to an “extended” bilinear system by change of state variables and output injection. One particular case is presented for an analytical expression of the specific growth rate. Theoretical stability and convergence properties are also analyzed. The effectiveness of the proposed observers is illustrated on simulated data
