The specific treatment of hypertension in pregnancy is still a matter of dispute. In the United Kingdom, some obstetricians never use antihypertensive treatment in the management of even severe preeclampsia [1]. Instead, emphasis is given to the use of anticonvulsants such as diazepam or chlormethiazole. In the United States, peirenteral magnesium sulphate, which has no hypotensive action, is the first line of treatment [2]
