AbstractThis article is dedicated to the problem of onomatopoeia that is analyzed in English and German nursery rhymes. The material of the research includes thirty texts and has two stages: the first one shows the differences of sound-imitating words types while the second one deals with the syntactic-morphological and semantic characteristics of onomatopoeia in English and German nursery rhymes
