Clinically encouraging results can be obtained with an intravenous high dose short-time infusion of streptokinase in patients with evolving myocardial infarction. The feasibility and efficacy of the intracoronary and the systemic approach of streptokinase therapy in acute myocardial infarction are discussed in this report and include topics such as infarct artery recanalization success rate, coronary thrombus lysis time, benefit for patients with subtotal coronary occlusion, reocclusion rate, the necessity of additional surgical interventions, salvage of ischemic myocardium and side effects.The value of high dose intravenous short-time streptokinase infusion needs to be assessed with properly designed clinical trials against the background ...
