Coppice management in Italy has traditionally focused on a single or few dominating tree species. Tree-oriented silviculture can represent an alternative management system to get high value timber production in mixed coppice forests. This study illustrates an application of the tree-oriented silvicultural approach in Turkey oak (Quercus cerris L.) coppice forests. The rationale behind the proposed silvicultural approach is to combine traditional coppicing and localized, single-tree practices to favor sporadic trees with valuable timber production.
