International audienceThe author draws on his engagement with three notions in Freud’s work that drew his attention in various instances–Entfremdung (estrangement), sich befreunden mit (coming to terms with) and Entgegenkommen (compliance)–which he thinks can be heuristically deployed together. Combining these three notions enables him to develop the concept of depersonalisation by shedding light on the ends of psychoanalysis. Initially, he explains what these terms mean and indicates how they are traditionally translated into French.
