Indicator framework for monitoring SDG target on sanitation: a review through the lens of human rights

With the end of the MDG era in 2015, the JMP has proposed a framework for integrated monitoring of post-2015 targets on water and sanitation. This article discusses about how each element of the proposed sanitation target and corresponding indicator can be understood from a human rights perspective. The discussion suggests that the proposal is a step forward towards a monitoring framework where human rights elements are effectively promoted.
