Efectos de la limitación del número de transmisores en redes ópticas elásticas

Anàlisi i simulació mitjançant Matlab de l'efecte que té limitar el nombre de transmissors en una xarxa òptica elàstica. S'estudiaran diferents tipus de transmissors que han estat proposats per a aquest tipus de xarxes.This thesis intends to study the performance of two different type of transmitters and how they affect the efficiency of an elastic optical network. Optical networks have been proved as the ideal option to absorb the huge demand increase in communications over the last few years. Nevertheless, current optical networks will reach a saturation point if this demand continues to increase in the current rhythm. 5G networks will contribute to create a society where access to information will be available anywhere to anyone or anything (Internet of Things). To support those 5G networks, optical transport has to be rethought as more flexible and adaptive. The results obtained in this thesis will allow to compare strategies and to optimize the resources used in the transmitters of an elastic optical network which has been simulated using the tool MATLAB. The main goal is that the transmitters don’t become the limiting element when we want to transmit information.Aquesta tesi pretén estudiar el comportament de dos tipus de transmissors diferents i com afecten al rendiment d’una xarxa òptica elàstica. Les xarxes òptiques han demostrat ser la opció ideal per absorbir el gran increment de demanda de comunicacions que hi ha hagut duran els darrers anys. Tot i això, les xarxes òptiques actuals arribaran a saturar-se si aquesta demanda segueix creixent al ritme actual. Les xarxes 5G ajudaran a crear una societat en la que l’accés a la informació serà possible a tothom i des de qualsevol lloc o qualsevol cosa (Internet of Things). Per poder donar suport a aquestes xarxes 5G, el transport òptic ha d’anar evolucionant i convertint-se en més flexible i adaptable. Els resultats obtinguts en aquesta tesi permeten comparar estratègies i optimitzar els recursos utilitzats en els transmissors d’una xarxa òptica elàstica simulada utilitzant MATLAB.
