The overarching aim of this thesis is to investigate the influence of scenes on the recognition of objects. In pursuit of this objective, two studies were performed using the same old-new recognition task. The first of the two studies investigated behavioral responses and the second included an additional functional component with electrophysiological recordings. Objectives. The first study elucidated how features of an object interact with other potential factors, such as the context in which a target object is seen, as well as the role of individual characteristics of the observer.
