In this study, we estimated the urban activity information in Jakarta, and introduced them into a cloud-resolving meteorological model. Application of the model to the heat island of Jakarta on a sunny day (16th September 2012) shows that global land cover classification data is not sufficient for reproducing the heat island over Jakarta, and more detailed land cover information can clearly improve the simulation accuracy of heat islands.
