This thesis describes a framework upon which programs, particularly those identified as engaging in rapid acquisition, can compare themselves to determine if the adoption of a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach might be feasible. The research was established as a case study of several defense acquisition programs that are using MBSE as part of their software development process by providing a background for those programs being evaluated, then delving into their individual MBSE processes to identify the principal elements that added the most value in terms of delivering a suitable and effective product expediently.
