No one argues whether specific occupational therapy services or occupational therapy as a part of multidisciplinary rehabilitation are effective. But when recent systematic reviews (Legg, Drummond & Langhorne, 2006; Steultjens et al., 2005) debate what elements of occupational therapy make it effective, the writer of this article, who is currently the chairperson of the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association, feels that it is time to revisit the core values of our profession, which may be of interest to our fellow occupational therapists in Hong Kong
