AbstractNormally, the amount of pain reflects the degree of injury. Acute pain decreases as the injury heals.If the pain remains after a normal period for the injury to heal, it becomes chronic pain. Acute pain is a symptom; chronic pain is a disease itself. Chronic pain leads to: depression, stress, weakened immune system, loss of appetite and weight, insomnia. It never has a useful biological function and impedes on the quality of life
