AbstractIn this paper an overview of the legal situation of glare from sunlight reflected at solar installations is given with emphasis on the German speaking countries. Furthermore, measurements of the reflection properties of different glass types, and other materials used in the building envelope are presented. The bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) is used to characterize the different materials and to quantify their potential of creating discomfort glare from reflected sunlight
