Denna artikel är en del av ett kandidatexamensarbete inom civilingenjörsprogrammet med inriktning Samhällsbyggnad på Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan. I artikeln undersöks de två trämodifieringsmetoderna värmebehandling och furfurylering. Syftet är att undersöka varför dessa modifieringsmetoder ännu inte klarat av att på allvar konkurrera med konventionell tryckimpregnering. Hur furfurylering och värmebehandling går till, miljöeffekter eller andra hinder för användningen av metoderna utreds. Målet är att bedöma möjligheterna för modifieringsmetoderna att öka sina marknadsandelar i framtiden. Slutsatsen är att båda metoderna helt klart är miljövänligare än konventionell tryckimpregnering och att de inom de flesta områden ger en tillräcklig ökning...
