Lögner i moderna kommunikationsmedel

Lies are common between humans and they occur in different means of communication. It is of interest to gain knowledge about lies, for instance regarding bidding for properties, sick leave, and infidelity. In this thesis planned lies are investigated experimentally in communication face to face, phone calls and text messages with cell phones (SMS) in conditions when the lie is planned and in the interest for both individuals. Three hypotheses based on three theories on lying were formulated. Each hypothesis specified a unique prediction of the frequency distribution of the choices of means of communication. To test the hypothesis 44 university students participated in an experiment. The result shows that SMS was the most common means of communication for a lie and this is supported by the Social Distance Hypothesis.
