We studied the topic of depth sensing camera calibration. Two devices Microsoft Kinectand Swissranger SR-4000, that work on different physical principles, were investigated.Both 3D cameras were described and subjected to experiments in order to evaluatetheir performance. Several systematic error sources were identified and we proposedmethods to compensate for them. A comparison of reconstruction performance of both3D cameras and a stereo-pair of conventional cameras was presented.
