Arbetsterapeuters erfarenheter av handledning och undervisning i förflyttningskunskap för vårdpersonal inom särskilt boende

The aim of the study was to describe occupational therapists experiences of supervision and education of nursing staff in nursing homes in patient handling. A qualitative method was used in order to gathering the experiences from the participants. Six occupational therapist active in different municipals in Norrbotten were interviewed with semi-structured questions and the data collected were analyzed with a qualitative analysis. After the analysis four categories appeared: the specific competence and roll of the occupational therapist, the conditions of structure, the client and the occupational therapist, and education in patient handling. These categories creates opportunities and possibilities throughout the learning situation due to the supervision in patient handling. The result has given an insight in the subject supervision and education related to the patient handling. The occupational therapist needs to be flexible with enough knowledge and skills referring to working technic, ergonomics and adjust treatment and communication in the education in order to fulfill the needs of both client and nursing staff. The study might be useful in both the occupational therapist education as well in the clinical work.
