Arbetstillfredställelse och motivation : Hos anställda inom handikappomsorgen

The purpose with this thesis is to investigate what motivates the employees at the Municipality of Piteå within their work with disabled people. This involves caretaking of people with special needs. Through interviews with 15 employees answers were searched for: “Which factors influence comfort and workmotivation and which individual traits are important for this line of work?” and “In what way does organization and leadership influence the motivation?” The theories applied are Herzbergs two-factor theory and the workcharacteristic model by Hackman and Oldham. The results show that the employees were motivated at their workplace, because of a good workgroup, the leadership, and the response from the caretakers. Throughout the interviews the answers were similar with very few exceptions. The respondents were satisfied and happy at their workplace with the feeling of a meaningful job. For the employees to feel motivated in their profession the tasks need to be meaningful and varied, they need to get feedback on executed work and that it is possible to be self efficient.
