An evaluation of code generation products from the MathWorks was made to see if they could benefit Autoliv Electronics. Autoliv Electronics wants to generate C code from the MATLAB language instead of having to do a manual translation which was both time-consuming and error-prone. The conclusion was that in some situations these products would contribute to the algorithm development process while in others they would not. One situation where automatic code generation did contribute to the development process was when generating reference floating-point C code.
