The article is devoted to the research of manifestation of such aspect of national character as “aspiration in everything to reach extremes” (according to D. S. Likhachev), expressed in a saturational mode of action, in particular, in verbs with semantics “the result of eating food”. On the one hand, statements with such verbs as nayest’sya (to eat one’s fill), nalopat’sya, natreskat’sya, etc., designate desire, intention of the subject of the action, his / her attitude to food (and to other objects in a figurative use); on the other hand, these statements show the assessment of the subject of the action “the result of eating food” by the outside observer.
